[identity profile] sc-fossil.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] discoveredinalj
As some of you know, I've been working on this for months. I have been vacillating about posting it for the Thirty Years challenge for days now and I've finally decided to subject all who are willing to my efforts. In order to be up front about this vid, I'm letting everybody know it is long, it is not what "the vidding community" considers technically correct, and it is plain fantasy. But it is older lads. So if anybody would like to download this monster and give it a look, I sincerely hope you enjoy it. And many thanks to those who encouraged me to keep going during the dark days. *bg*

I really liked the vid. I liked the way the older "Doyle" sequences were in black and white, but the past was in color. Then at the end we get the fantasy happy ending with the two making a connection and with a big splash of color and hope. Well done.

I've raved about this before, but I'm glad to have the chance again to say I love it! The clips you use to shift back and forth from present to past are great (I'm still boggled by the way the two pub patio scenes mesh) and the way you use the words of the song and the clips to tell a story really works for me.

I don't know why TPTB worry about fandom - this vid has inspired me to buy the Judge Deed DVDs when I'm over in the UK (and worry about how I'll play them later *G*). I'd never even have thought about that without seeing this vid.

They are, they are indeed. But I still prefer the younger versions if you don't mind *G* I so miss those curls you know...

Terrific song. I was so much desperately hoping that you would find a way to reunite them in the end of the vid but didn't see how in the world you were going to go about it. I love the way you worked in those clips of an older Bodie at the end. This is a great vid and thanks so much for all the work that I know you must have put into it.

I absolutely *love* this! The clips you've chosen and the way you've put them together works so beautifully, and with the song too, I felt very emotional watching it!
Brilliant, thank you!

I've played it three times in the row to find out, what's wrong with the vid. Now I get it: the old Bodie is BLOND! :D Not white, not gray. Blond! How ugly! It's even worse than William Shatner with black perm. *LOL*

And now I'm going to rewatch it, again. Several times :D :D

Oh, this is lovely! I was practically sniffling all the way through it - good ol' Ray, he wouldn't give up, would he?

Great use of clips, and the words of the song were perfect.

As for not being technically correct, well I'm no vidder but I know if a vid looks good and sounds good, and this one pressed all the right buttons for me. I'm so glad that you did keep going (and thanks to everyone who encouraged you too!)

Geez louise, how could you doubt that we'd love it? Eh? *g* (Okay, yes, it kills me to think of all the years they apparently didn't have each other, granted, but...EEEEE! *g*) This is terrific! Great idea, great use of shots. My only wish is that there had been some way to actually get them together for a final frame. *g*

Congratulations! I think you did a fine job. Thank you so much for sharing this with us! I'm, er, going to go watch it again right now, in fact. Cheers. *g*

BRAVO ! (clapping hands loudly)

Loved the comparisons ... metal outdoor setting; shaving; fencing; drinking; buses; sleeping ... and a rear view shot of the Judge.

Thank you.

Braces are fashionable and Doyle kept up with the trends of the day :)

That is just so beautiful!! ::sniffles:: I really felt for Doyle as you have used such wonderful clips from JJD and the PD James, Death in Holy Orders and The Murder Room. He changed his name to John Deed then Adam Dalgliesh but he still remembered his Bodie and kept looking for him. The way you have used the song and the clips is just so perfect.

Wipes eyes again and goes to have another look. I'm sure this is one vid I will watch again and again.

Thank you.

Speakers! Sound! We have lift off - and about a dozen vids to go catch up on now.)) Kat, this was WONDERFUL. Such an original idea and approach. I love it. I'm not one who has seen a whole helluva lot of MS or LC outside Pros, so I had no trouble buying all the outside-Pros clips as older Bodie and Doyle. Just terrific. Thank you for all your hard work on this.

Absolutely love this. It was clever to show older Doyle in black and white, while his memories were in colour; it made them more vibrant.

Excellent work! Thank you :)

Wow!

Wow!

This is stupendous. It really, really is.

I love it.

I really like how you've used black & white for Ray 'now' and also how in many places you echoed the 'now' shots of him alone with the 'then' shots of Bodie & Doyle.

This really is an amazing songvid. Truly one of the best I've seen.

Thank you SO much for sharing this piece of joy.

I'm curious why doesn't 'the vidding community' consider it to be technically correct?

You're very welcome.

Ah, you know I didn't even notice - so there you go. I was so caught up in the overall enjoyment. To my mind people loving what you did is far more important than a few frames not being the same size as others.

OMGOMGOMGOMG! This is FANTASTIC!!!!! Oh, God, I feel hard to breath now!

*drinks some water*

Aww, I really love this! Ray (Yes, I have to call him Ray!) looks sooooooo damn sexy in his fifties. Is he Deed and Gently actually? Oh, I have to have those DVDs. Must have.

And at the end...!!!! Bodie in his fifties. *nearly falls* He looks so gorgeous too. They're a definitely OTP, aren't they?

Thank you for making this vid. I really enjoyed it. How stupid I was to overlook this post!? *headdesk*
