It is the day before the day...
Nov. 30th, 2006 10:47 pmWell, 'tis the day before December, and all through the house...
Amazingly, Discovered In The Mistletoe actually starts tomorrow (whee!) and at least equally amazingly, and completely fabulously all but two of the days have been claimed! And we have extra content to fill those days, so... that means that for 37+ days in a row, right through December and into January, there will be new Pros-ness in flists and on browsers everywhere! *g*
There's really not much to explain before it all starts, but we're going to try anyway...
1. All participants need to do is to post on their day, in their own time zone. This is really the only slightly tricky thing about having so many people playing together:
Please remember that an lj day spans something like 36 hours, (which for us here in Pros I think means the time difference between Australia and Alaska - unless there's anyone in the Christmas Islands or Samoa that I don't know about...) so gaps between posts may sometimes seem a bit erratic! For example, when it's 1am in eastern Australia, it's still only 5am the day before here in Alaska! *headdesk*
Basically, please try to check whether the person before you on the calendar has posted, before you make your own post, regardless of what the clocks actually say!
2. If it turns out that the dog has eaten your harddrive, or your house has suddenly fallen into the sea, then don't worry.Make sure you post your Pros before rescuing either dog or computer or house Let us know as soon as you can - email addresses in the user info - and we'll cover for you with extra content, if we can. And if it doesn't work out at all, well, it doesn't work out - no big deal. *g*
3. Out of consideration for people's flists and bandwidth, please use lj-cuts. (For anyone who's not sure, type <*lj-cut text="title of your piece"> before your piece, and then <*/lj-cut> at the end of your piece - leaving out the asterisks to make the code work!)
4. Longer fics can be split into several posts, of course. Feel free to make as many posts on your day as you like, too. If you come over all prolific (heh) between now and then, we'd love to see it *g*
5. And finally (I think) if you'd like your work archived then do remember to use the dialj "trailer" at the end of your post. Again, it's on the user info page.
So there were five things to tell you after all! If we've forgotten anything, or if you have any questions, do shout out. And most of all - Happy December, Bonne Hiver, and ... erm... have fun *g*.

Date: 2006-11-30 11:45 pm (UTC)"Doyle?" you called over your shoulder. "Has this place got deathwatch beetle or..." You turned round and shook your head in that nannyish way of yours. "It is, isn't it? It's you making that racket! You can't still be cold. Here," you reached out and pulled me into your side, rubbing briskly up and down my arm, "how's that?"
"Like being mauled by King Kong. Get off, will you." I shrugged my jacket straight, and wondered irritably why you always had to go and spoil the mood. Felt like my arm was coming off. Bloody bull in a china shop.
You snatched your hand away. "I was only trying to get you warmed up."
I tell you I didn't give much for our chances if wrenching my arm out of its socket was the best you could come up with. No idea of subtlety, you army types.
"That something they teach you in the SAS then is it? How to start a fire by rubbing two CI5 agents together?"
My mouth, as usual, was sounding off a step or two ahead of my brain, and there was a crowded little silence while my imagination caught up and showed me some inspirational pictures to go with the thought.
Hee - rubbing two CI5 agents together. *grins happily*

Date: 2006-12-21 01:44 am (UTC)My computer is currently showing signs of being on its last legs, and I think the power supply is going, on the grounds that it doesn't start most of the time, and when it does, it's started conking out without notice.
Unfortunately, neither the block, nor, more worryingly, the PC, bode well for me being able to guarantee completing my contribution to Discovered In The Mistletoe on time.
I hate to do this, but do you have enough spare content to cover the 23rd without me?

Date: 2006-12-21 02:15 am (UTC)Don't worry at all about the 23rd, we can totally cover it - not a problem.
And if it turned out to be okay, and you end up all inspired and with fic, we can always expand the calendar after the 6th (we might do anyway) - just let us know sometime before then.
Good luck with it, hope it works out okay...
