“Fucking hell, he never said you was a bloody nutter!” The tattooed man nursed his arm close to his body.

“Who, the bastard who hired you?”

“Yeah, he said this would be a simple job. Easy money, he says.”

“What d’you do to him?”

“Nothing, I—”

Bodie let go of  the tattooed man’s hair and grabbed his good arm, twisting it up behind his back. “Want to go for the matching set?”

“Didn’t do nothin’ to the bloke who hired us.”

Bodie laughed. It wasn’t a pleasant sound. “Obviously whoever hired you wasn’t shopping for brains. I don’t mean your boss.”

The man Murphy had in the headlock passed out from the lack of oxygen and Murphy let him drop to the tarmac.

“What’s the matter Bodie?” He moved in closer. “Why don’t you want to know who hired them?”

“Priorities.” Bodie pulled at Tattoo man’s injured arm again, causing him to scream, as he wrenched Doyle’s watch off. He showed it to Murphy. “I want to know where Doyle is and what this bastard did to him.”

Murphy put his hand on Bodie’s shoulder. “Look, I understand you being upset, but we need to find out who hired him and we can’t—”

Bodie shook Murphy’s hand off. “Leave if you want to, go and report back to Cowley. Tell him you were never here. But this arsehole is going to tell me what he did with Doyle or there won’t be enough of him left to scrape off my shoes.”

Tattoo man cowered on the ground. “But I told you, we didn’t do anythin’ to the bloke who hired us.”

Bodie lowered the watch in front of his face. “For the last fucking time, I’m not asking about the bloke who hired you. I’m asking about the bloke you got this watch from. Where’s Doyle?”

“Ray Doyle right?”

“Yes. Ray. Doyle. And he better still be breathing else—”

“He was fine when I saw ‘im. I know Ray from when he was a copper. He hired me and me mates ‘ere. I took a fancy to his watch so I got ‘im to throw that in too. Come to think of it, he warned me not to put it on ‘til later. I should 'ave listened to him.” The tattooed man nodded at Murphy. “Pointed out yer handsome friend over there through the pub window, said to wait until he was joined by a ‘short haired bloke with an attitude problem’ and then to slow the two of you down for a while. Said not to really hurt you, but to rough you up a bit. The knife was supposed to scare you, that’s all. I actually thought it was lucky when you spilled me drink, gave me a chance to make it look like it weren't planned, like Doyle asked—”

“Ray hired you? I’ll bloody kill him!”

WTBF??? What the hell is Ray up to? He must be totally gaga to try something like this on his mates... *is at a loss for words* You evil woman! That's not the right way to make up with Bodie! Waaaaah! I wanna know what game Doyle's playing here. Why does he want Bodie out of the way? To keep him out of trouble? To protect him? Ack, we know what usually happens when Ray's out on his own, don't we?

Very well done - that's a twist I didn't expect. You totally caught me off guard there *G*

Well, I'm with on the Doyle rescue thingy. The man can well take care of himself and Bodie can be a bit over-protective at times. So I guess Doyle wants to check a few of his own sources without Bodie. Lack of trust? I doubt it *sits and waits for next part while prodding Hambel with the pokey stick*

I also didn't particularly want to take this in the "Doyle needs rescuing" direction

who said he needed rescuing, the lad only went a bit awol between the cashpoint and the pub! *g* can't help Bodie jumping to the wrong conclusions ....

like the devious Doyle angle ... there is something going on with him, there so is!

Mwahaaa, have just caught up on all of this (it's WONDERFUL, btw), and would love to do the next bit? You've set it all up so brilliantly, [livejournal.com profile] draycevixen!

Interesting piece of plotting and trying to tie threads together. That's the *fun* of round robins - never know what the next person will bring *g*.

What we need!!!!!! is someone to do a flashback and fill in the gap between the meet with Marty and missing Doyle. What's in Bodie's head, hmmm?

But why did Doyle ask the thickos to "slow them down a bit"? They took it waaaay too literally, but what was Doyle's reason? What else happened, hmmmm?

Yes, I can see that Doyle might head off on his own, for thinky time, although I'm not sold on the idea of doing it without at least flagging his intentions to Bodie in some way. I have to nudge things (shake, twist and roll) a little because of what has has been written by other lovely, talented ladies.

PS I think the 500 word limit can be pushed a bit for wordy types *g*. BSL is a kind mistress.

it's fun to think your way out of the corner the previous person painted you in to...
Oh, yes... *g*

Now I badly want to write a Donne-esque poem.
*Heh* Dares you.

And now, a good night to all.

This is getting mysteriouser and mysteriouser by the minute. Yay, angry and devious - can't wait to see how they sort this lot out! Who will turn out to lead them to the photographer ..... ??? Will the photographer even turn up alive? Will they ever find the negatives? And have passionate make-up sex reconcile their differences ....

Oh I love the twisty turny places this is going! Dense plot trickery is beyond me, alas, so I shall wait for a lull and then slip smth quiet and PWP in somewhere down the line.*g* Wonderful scribbling!!
