And after a very short rest... *g*... the next Dialj challenge! Not sure how we'll get on now that there're challenges being run over at
the_safehouse as well, but let's see how we go and hope that there's room for two challenge sites in Pros! I guess we'll all just have to write/draw/create more... *g*
We thought we'd try something a bit different with our Autumn challenge this year - Found in Fanon/Discovered in Canon. Canon, of course, is anything derived directly and indisputably from the eps - Doyle wears tight jeans, Bodie wears a bracelet, Doyle cooks spaghetti, Bodie has a lock-up containing a car with communication equipment in the boot... and so on. Fanon, on the other hand, is the set of ideas that have grown through written fic that is the author's interpretation of the series - Bodie can't live without Swiss Roll, Doyle last saw his wallet when he was about sixteen, Bodie is incredibly tidy because he's a military man, Doyle wears jewellery while Bodie disdains it... and so on. *g* So....
...if you fancy playing this month, all you need to do is respond below requesting either a Canon or a Fanon prompt - and that is what you shall receive! Then, as ever, use that somehow as inspiration for your piece - writing, drawing, vidding, whatever you care to create for us - and don't forget this is a Pros challenge site, not just a fic site! You can focus on the prompt, base your piece loosely on the prompt, use it as a jumping-off point, eye it up from all sides and decide to do the exact opposite... anything you like! You don't even need a prompt to play (though it'd be nice if you'd comment to say you're thinking about it anyway, so that we can look forward... *g*) - you've always wanted to write a story around something very specific from the eps? Please do, and post it! Always wanted to explode a particular pieces of fanon? Go for it!
The challenge will run between now and the end of October (midnight, Pago Pago time, on the 31st October) - and there may well be mini fanon/canon challenges in between, no, I really mean it this time... *g* .
There's also absolutely no worries about requesting a prompt and then not posting anything - real life happens, that's how it goes, and we're very chilled out about it here. No stress if you answered a challenge ages ago and didn't end up playing - feel free to try it again, and then either post or not post. The fun is supposed to be in the trying - although of course it's very fun for readers/viewers to have things to read/view, so finishing and posting is good too... *g*
So... anyone want to play? *vbg*
(And do let me know if the colours are driving you mad, this challenge - I can't decide if I like their depth and slight purple-ness, or if it's just a terrible mess... I did mention that I'm rubbish at that sort of thing, right?! *g* *eyes November challenge happily*)

There is a toy trombone on the table in Doyle's flat in "Hunter Hunted"..

Date: 2008-09-26 07:51 pm (UTC)But since that sort of a prompt doesn't work for you anyway, how about something altogether different?!
What about... another canon prompt along the lines of:
Doyle almost always has alot of books in his flat, and is often seen reading.
Hard to give canon about character, as alot of it's going to be interpretation of character rather than character itself! I was trying to go for physical prompts that might prompt interpretation of character - why would Doyle have a toy bugle in his flat? - but I can see that might be slightly harder to work up to character! Hope this works a bit better?

Date: 2008-09-26 07:59 pm (UTC)Dammit. That is the sort of prompt that gets my mind going immediately. Ack! Be careful what you wish for! I can't take on even one more thing. But...ooh...connections are firing, ideas are forming. *g*
Thank you. Oddly enough, that makes me feel better. *g*

Date: 2008-09-26 08:07 pm (UTC)(I find I'm in a funny mood too at the moment - what I thought I might try as a pastiche piece I have a feeling is going to be awfully angsty instead... eek!)
