Posting on behalf of magenta_blue, who's dongle is not doing what it should be dongling...

So sorry this is late - and it almost didn't make it! Imagine flashing fingers typing as-fast-as-they-blooming-well-can all day today, fuelled by mucho coffee and chocolate, and that has pretty much been the scene... *g* And then of course, at the eleventh hour, my LJ goes belly up so I cannot post – so I have asked my lightening fast beta, Slantedlight, to do it for me – thank so much me dear, for this and for the beta-ing!

For my day (coughs, night) I humbly bring fic to the table, and hope very much you like it! My prompt was 'Lonely this Christmas', a song by the British band called Mud.

Yay for magenta fic! It's lovely to have an episodey case story, especially with so many CI5 characters playing a part. Your Cowley is brilliant - thinking and caring and controller-like! In fact, the whole gang were spot-on, the way everyone reacted to a man down, that seemed very Show and very real. The Doyle h/c was great too - very subtly done, both of them being all calm and worried at the same time. That bloody song, I sympathise with George ... preferred Tigerfeet, me *g* ... but I love Bodie's little joke at the end. Excellent fic, love, and phooey to the dongle!

I love writing plotty stories, and bringing all the gang in where they fit. Glad Cowley came across well (I wanted him to be exactly that - thinking, caring and controller-like, so yay!), and the fact everyone seemed real and like the show - warms the heart, that does! Glad you liked the Doyle h/c too, and Bodie's little joke at the end, the idea for that came pretty much before the writing - couldn't resist!

I know, that bloody song! I chose the day without quite thinking it through, and then I was like oh flip, the most depressing christmas song ever! I prefer Tigerfeet too... *g*
