I'm still writing stories - but I wanted to do some pics - and a vid - if I could. I always had it in mind to do a pic for my Edinburgh square and this is what I came up with (after, as some will know, a hilarious detour through this, which was not at all in keeping with the tone I wanted to strike!).
Anyhoo - here's me pic:
And I wasn't sure if I was supposed to put disclaimers'n'stuff on a pic - so I have below, just in case...
Title: Edinburgh
Artiste: (Yea Me!) Fiorenza_a
Category: In the eye of the beholder. I was thinking M/M, so Mature? But if you aren't, then Gen :0)
Archive at ProsLib/Circuit: Yes - Anywhere you like really.
Author's Name for Archiving: Fiorenza_a
Disclaimer: Never been convinced of the utility of disclaimers, nonetheless happy to declare that this is intended as a devotional fanwork, based on the characters created by Brian Clemens, without any desire to profit from them. Love not Lucre :0)
As ever, happy to be corrected if I've stuffed up posting somehow...

Date: 2016-08-01 07:24 am (UTC)Heh, I'm not sure what's going on in those kilt pics, but I guess it would be filed under 'what happens in Edinburgh stays in Edinburgh'. :D

Date: 2016-08-01 08:19 am (UTC)Yes, the kilt pics are inexplicable!
It's the first time I've tried a pic like this, it came out pretty close to what I had in my head. And I've learnt quite a bit about using the various techniques I employed. So I'm quite pleased with it.
Back to the writey sort of stuff now :0)

I'm glad you think it was atmospheric - I think finding the castle in the snow (http://blog.edinburghcastle.gov.uk/index.php/christmas-at-the-castle/) helped - but the original pic is too cheery - in my head I saw it more brooding like the ruins above Whitby.
I'm quite pleased with how it turned out - I might try doing another one at some point, it was quite an enjoyable process..

Date: 2016-08-01 09:45 pm (UTC)Oh I hope so, it was what I was trying to go for :0)
I'm glad you like it - I was quite pleased with how it came out myself, pretty much how I saw it in my head. It's not absolutely perfect, but I'm happy with it as a first go!

Date: 2016-08-01 12:30 pm (UTC)And with my mod-hat on - image artists tend not to put headers/trailers for their work, but to be honest that's always baffled me. If anything, it usually involves more specific use of copyrighted work (the actual images) than writing does. So from the mod's pov - go for it! And in general, posting looks good! (Disclaimers may or may not do any legal good at all, but I've always seen them more from a courtesy perspective anyway - it's always nice to acknowledge when we've had help, and creating the show in the first place is the biggest help we're ever going to have! So it's as much a good-karma-into-the-world thing, which is so much nicer, surely, than an of-course-I-can-play-with-them-you-can't-legally-stop-me sort of approach).

I'm not sure if the Doyle/snow Bodie/desert thing is a 'thing' (not like, say, Doyle as elf which is definitely a 'thing'!). But it does seem to mostly fall that way in the fic I read. Which isn't a very scientific study and probably says more about what I read than anything - but it was in my head.
Yes, the disclaimer as courtesy does seem to have fallen out of fashion. Disclaimers in general - I wonder if that has to do with the proliferation of places to archive? Anyway, I believe 'when in Rome' - so I'm happy to add one - and it is nice to say thank you to the folk who created the stuff we love.

Date: 2016-08-01 03:42 pm (UTC)This is beautiful, Doyle looking worried and the snowy landscape behind him. Hmm, I wrote a story where they both got lost in the snow...no desert stories so far.

Date: 2016-08-01 10:06 pm (UTC)I have no explanation for the kilt pics - would you believe they came up when I was searching for 'Edinburgh'? Just the one with the guy prostrate with his bum in the foreground and I thought 'I have to see where that came from' and the 'explanation' was even madder than I had anticipated! So, of course, I had to share...
I'm glad you like the pic, I was quite pleased that it came out pretty much as it was in my head - perhaps a desert fic is just waiting in the corners of your imagination? They have snow in the desert sometimes...

Date: 2016-08-01 09:29 pm (UTC)You're welcome!
I had a vision of the castle and Doyle's scarf as soon as I saw the prompt, but it took a while to think of how to fit them into the sort of vibe I was looking for.

Date: 2016-08-02 06:53 am (UTC)Yes, I was hoping to convey a sense of desperation - and separation - it's so much a part of the fics which inspired it. I'm glad you liked it :0)
I enjoyed making it, so I might make some more - or maybe try a painting....

Date: 2016-08-03 12:47 am (UTC)Thank you :0) I used a shot from Mixed Doubles for Bodie (you might be able to tell, not sure), because I thought it had the right expression - but my mate, who's just seen the pic, isn't sure about Doyle. She likes symmetry and isn't too keen on his scarf!
