My prompt from byslantedlight was swami (swami?? ow, head hurts!)

"I know your future, Ray."

"How do you know?" Four words hissed between clenched teeth, costing Ray seconds of preciously guarded breath. He felt his ribs expand against his bloodsoaked shirt, felt the rough fabric chafe his skin. Reality was Bodie's hand clenched around his own lax fingers, Bodie's unrelenting certainty in a world suffused with agony.

Warm air brushed his neck. "You'll come home with me and we'll do it right this time. Oh yeah, know it all, don't I."

"My very own swami." Four words forced through a pain-choked laugh, part defiant challenge, part triumphant capitulation.

I love this! What a great use of the prompt! I can hear Ray choking those words out, part laughing, part challenging, part capitulating...

You know, it just occurred to me - it needs a title for me to archive it. I could just call it "Drabble" (though I can only do that once for each author)...or do you have a title you'd like me to use?

(And I keep loving this...I'm really not a drabble fan at all, not enough of a fix for me, but a few of these really hit me, and this was one of them. Of course, what they really did was make me long to read the larger stories of which they were a part! :sigh:)

Oh yeah, duh *smacks self*. erm, how about "Seer". Short, to the point, and as much as my sleepy brain can come up with this morning.

And thanks again! You know, it makes me want to write the story behind it, too - and the 'going home' part *g*. (Because I'm a big sap and love the comfort with my hurt ;).)
