I really needed just a wee bit longer, cos this doesn't really go anywhere (except where it does...), and is barely even a ficlet, but I couldn't not post it... *g* (And ever so slightly invoking Pago Pago time... there were definite advantages to living in Alaska!)

Ack - left it too late to do a decent job on this one.  I've dithered about not posting it, but I now have several unfinished fics on my hard drive and I have discovered that if left there they tend to linger - there's no such thing as the Finishing Fairy :(  So I will post this here, but it does need tidying up a bit lot.

(With grateful thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kiwisue for the image of the 1981 Marathon route, which was the inspiration)

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time to write a story of my own - but I did want to "run"! So here is a story I found all about Doyle training, running, competing, the lads "first time" and an undercover for Bodie that goes wrong and it takes the run of Ray's life to save him.

More here )

Bodie makes it to the finish line, and has a medal to prove it. I already had the manip of Bodie alone, and just added the medal to make him topical to the challenge! :)

Okay, here is one I prepared earlier *g*
I am writing a new one, honestly I am, but it's taking longer than I hoped it would.  Meanwhile, if a recycled fic is acceptable, this one is just a bit dusty and curly round the edges.

I don't usually pay much attention to the London Marathon, but it turns out I'm going to be in the city for it this year (albeit staying as far away as possible) and when I was looking things up I couldn't help but notice that the first London Marathon took place in 1981, which is very much when our lads would have been in town. And then I came across this little-used lj-comm, and it all got me thinking that maybe... it was time for another [livejournal.com profile] discoveredinalj challenge, just in case anyone cared to play... *g*

The London Marathon is next weekend, Sunday 26th April, but there are always stragglers, so the challenge deadline will be Thursday 30th April for anyone who'd like to take part. The comm is open to anyone who fancies posting a story, picture, vid, drabble, icon, poem, song, thought, review... well anything really, that is inspired by both our lads (or even the lasses) and the very general theme marathon. It doesn't have to be the London Marathon, that was just my starting point - it could be running-inspired, or you could get all historical, or anything you like, however tenuous your connection. *g* Post any time you like up until midnight in your time zone on Thursday 30th April.

(If you've not seen [livejournal.com profile] discoveredinalj except when it posts for Christmas, you might like to check out some of our previous challenges, just to see what people did and what it all looks like when it's not decked out in baubles and tinsel... *g*
Discovered on a Gangplank (the very first one!)
Discovered on May Day
Discovered in a Sketchbook
Discovered on a Summer Holiday
Discovered in a Test Match
There's lots more, all listed on the comm's user info page, if you'd like a browse through lovely Pros things anyway... *g* Scroll down to find the banners - clicking on any of them will take you to the posts for the challenge.)

Right - here's hoping people might fancy a run... or our lads running... *g*
