Well, the snow's definitely all gone around here, and we're back to ordinary January - a little bit wet, a little bit grey, but with the odd bird peering out and wondering is it nearly Spring yet? Soon...

But it also means another challenge is over - thank you to everyone who took part in Discovered in the Snow, writers and readers and all! Half a dozen snowy little flakes fell and I shall get them archived via the User Info page as soon as possible. Authors, if you've not already then do consider archiving your stories to either Automated Hatstand and/or ProsLib as well!

We'll have a wee rest, and then see what new challenge we can find... *g*

Whew! Like [livejournal.com profile] byslantedlight, I wasn't at all sure I'd get my story done in time. Things have been a bit rough at home. But I did it! More or less. Perhaps not coincidentally, this is almost complete fluff. I hope you enjoy it!

I didn't think I was going to manage this one after all, but I did - hurrah! Just a wee, random moment that might have taken place in the snow...

A special thanks to my Bunkie for sharing some lovely pics from her home in Gloucestershire. They provided the inspiration for the fic while giving me a glimpse into her world. Who would have imagined we'd still be in touch 30 years after our summers together as camp counselors? Back then we kept in touch via letters on those thin blue single fold air mail sheets. Email's way easier!

Let's begin with some screencaps from Who Dares Wins, to set the scene of snowy London in January 1982.

*creeps out of lurkerdom and winces at the brightness of the sunshine on the snow*

It's only 518 words and hasn't had any beta input but please enjoy! It was our lane and car park that inspired me so have a picture, too. (There's a trailer at the end but I don't know how to point to it from here.)

Hello, there's still lots of the pretty white stuff down my neck of the woods, so I wrote this very short snow-themed ficlet...

So... it's Saturday, the UK is still under a blanket of snow, and I feel like being a wee bit topical... also, I may be trying to hang on to the December magic just a little bit... *g*

I thought maybe a new challenge? Inspired by the lads' world around us right now, and because a couple of people have suggested it...
Discovered in the Snow!

For inspiration - either look outside (*g* - ooh, and perhaps post a photo of your inspiration at the top of your creation?!) or comment below, especially if you're from sunnier climes, and I will prompt you with a picture from the UK in all its 2010 frozen glory! And if you think you might play, then please comment anyway, so we have something to look forward to... *g*

My first thought was let's have until the snow melts - but since this is the UK and we have no clue when that might be, I'd better say that the challenge will run until midnight, Pago-Pago time, next Sunday 17th of January - with a possible extension if we're snowed in... *g*

Stories, artwork, graphics, vids, thoughts, wonderings, games, reviews - anything at all welcome, inspired by the lads and the snow.

So... would anyone like to play?
